Going Global Recruitment is an internal company program specializing in the recruitment and retention of professional truck drivers and mechanics on a global level. The program was developed for the purpose of addressing the shortage of qualified candidates within Canadian borders.

Siemens Transportation Group appreciates and respects that it is a major decision for candidates and their families to relocate to Canada. In turn, we are committed to being experts in recruiting, relocation, settlement and all of the paperwork processes leading up to and including residency to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.

2. Why is Siemens Transportation Group Inc. recruiting professional long haul drivers and mechanics internationally?

There is a shortage of qualified candidates in Canada mainly due to the retiring baby boomers and the amount of limited new people entering the industry. We recruit globally for many reasons:
      - Professional, experienced, qualified drivers and mechanics;

- Drivers with continental experience who have a good understanding              of long haul and border crossing experience;
     - The number of people with a desire to immigrate to Canada for the         better quality of life, lower cost of living, and open roads.

3. What kind of candidates is your company looking to recruit?

      - Candidates who will portray the company's professional image;
      - Candidates who have exemplary customer service skills;

      - Candidates who have a sincere understanding of the trucking          industry;
      - Candidates whose families provide support and encouragement in          their decision to relocate and in their daily job;
      - Candidates who are loyal and committed to a long-term career with          our company.
       - Candidates with continental/mountain experience.

We have a thorough recruitment process beginning with an invitation to candidates and their families to travel to our Corporate Head Office in Saskatoon for a personal interview. During this time, candidates are given an extensive tour of our facilities, an introduction to members of our operations department as well as an opportunity to drive company equipment. Candidates are encouraged to spend a few days touring the city and province in which they have chosen to relocate. By the time the recruitment process is complete, the candidates have gained enough information to make a confident and firm decision to accept employment and relocate.

5. Where will the interview take place?

Interviews will be conducted at Siemens Transportation Group Inc. head office, 2411 Wentz Avenue, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Please remember that even though the interview is held in Saskatchewan, we are also hiring in the provinces of Alberta and Manitoba.

6. How does the company assist with Licensing and what kind of training do you provide?

Once families are comfortable and settled, the licensing and training process begins for the drivers. The company has very experienced and highly skilled trainers in place to ensure drivers have the training required to obtain their Class 1A license within one week.

Drivers and mechanics are required to actively participate in a company orientation. The orientation includes, but is not limited to, company policies and procedures, Dangerous Goods, safety procedures, proper completion of log books, hours of service and satellite communication, etc. Once the orientation is completed, drivers are required to take a training trip with an experienced company driver to gain a practical understanding of what was taught during the classroom orientation, ie.: border crossing procedures, customs paperwork, inspection scales, load securement and satellite communication. After successful completion of the training trip. Drivers are then assigned a truck and can confidently carry on in their positions.

7. Will you assist with settlement and residency paperwork? Is there a fee for your assistance?

Yes, we have an experienced company representative dedicated to assisting with settlement and residency paperwork. After assisting candidates with the paperwork required to obtain a work permit, we prepare for the arrival of new employees and their families. We have developed a very extensive relocation and settlement process that is directed to the entire family. The program includes a company representative personally assisting with obtaining social insurance numbers, bank accounts, provincial health care, etc. We ensure families are given the means to properly select accommodations and schools. Spouses/partners are provided with information about numerous volunteer organizations and contact lists to help them get involved with the community.
